Where to Donate Plasma in Texas?

A: You can donate plasma at a center off of Fredericksburg TX, not too far off 410 inside the loop. For first time donations you can look in one of those job magazines you find in any Jim's restaurant and get extra cash for your first donation. I think it says make 80 dollars your first week.

I currently donate at Houston BioLife, and they're very helpful. For your first donation, you receive $20 and $35 for you second donation in one week.

Other Paid Plasma Donation Centers:

1.) Biomet USA 2580 Gus Thomasson Rd. Dallas, TX 75228 214-321-6777

Pay per donation:
The first donation you receive $20, and the second and subsequent donations you get $30.

Frequency of donation:
Your blood is returned to you during a plasma donation so you are able to donate twice a week.

Test prior to donating:
On the first visit they do a medical history, brief physical, and check iron & protein levels. After that they just check iron and protein levels and run a quick check of vitals- temperature, blood pressure and pulse.

Length of time for donation:
For the first donation it might take 2 hours, but then after that it is very quick and only takes 45 minutes.

2.) Austin Bio Med 14415 Owen Tech Blvd Austin, TX 78728 (512) 251-8855

It's located off of Owen Tech, Near Wells Branch, and pays about $50.00 a week for two donations. Your first visit will take about 3 hours due to a screening process (including a drug screen). After that it will be like 1.5 hours a visit. You can only donate twice a week. First donation of the week is about $20. Second is about $30.

3.) ZLB Plasma 3655 Fredericksburg Road. #107 San Antonio, TX 78201 (210)-736-2824

Hours: M-F 8-6, Sat 8-4

ZLB Plasma Services pays $25 for the first-time donation and $30 for the second in a one-week period, then $15 and $30 after that. ZLB Plasma has two locations in San Antonio; call to find out current cash rewards.

I do not know if South Texas Blood & Tissue Services pays for plasma donations, but they have several donation locations around the city. You can call and ask them at (210) 731-5555 or (800) 292-5534.

4.) Biomat USA Donor Center 403 North York Street, Houston, TX 77003-2530 (713)-223-2238

New Donors must bring valid photo ID, Social security Card, Visa or BBC proof of address to qualify. Call the center nearest you to get more information regarding compensation.

Look in Houston Emloyment Weekly Paper Circular on the back it has the name of a place that has 6 locations in town that they pay 30 dollars per visit.

5.) Talecris Plasma Resources El Paso, TX (915)-757-2735

Hours: Open until 7:00 PM

They give out monthly prizes, bonuses, and even give extra if you reccomended friends who can complete minimal 2 donations and give extra for military donors. You can donate twice a week and the staff have been nothing but friendly.

What Happens When You Donate Plasma

Plasmapheresis is a blood donation process in which you only donate the liquid portion of your blood, the plasma. The cellular portion of your blood is separated from the plasma by an automated instrument that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As part of this same automated process, the cellular portion is returned to you and the liquid plasma portion is retained in a special collection container.
